Before a technology purchase

Procurement-readiness checklist

A practical list for government and enterprise buyers preparing to compare a technology supplier, structure an engagement, or confirm a buying route.

Use this list

Bring what you know; flag what you do not.

You do not need every answer before you start. Use the prompts to organise the information available and identify the questions that need a conversation.
  • Define the outcome to buy — Describe the decision, service, product, or delivery capability required, including what a useful result needs to make possible.
  • Record the buying context — Note the organisation, jurisdiction, decision-maker, timeline, budget context, and any approval or governance steps already known.
  • Check the available buying route — Confirm whether direct engagement or a published panel is relevant. If you are unsure, bring that question to the conversation.
  • Prepare the comparison material — Gather the proposals, requirements, pricing or commercial assumptions, contract terms, and supplier questions that need independent review.
  • Make delivery risk visible — List the dependencies, integrations, data, operating constraints, and ownership questions that could affect feasibility after selection.
  • Know what must be decided next — Separate the questions that need advice now from the later procurement or delivery steps, so the first engagement stays focused.

Next step

Turn preparation into a focused conversation.

Use the procurement page to check the published routes, then contact Geode with the buying context and the decision you need to make.

Need to start with the situation instead?

Use the problem-led guides to connect a stalled project, vendor decision, or unclear product strategy to the relevant Geode service.
